The above table is the actual test activities to be conducted during the assessment for Swimsafer Stage 6- Gold. (Updated for Year 2023)

Swimsafer Gold/ Stage 6 Swimsafer 2.0 Skills Assessment is a rigorous test that evaluates a swimmer’s mastery of various strokes and survival skills. The test consists of six components that test a swimmer’s ability to swim different strokes with specific times and a sequence of skills that assess the swimmer’s overall competence in the water. Swimmers who pass the Swimsafer Gold/ Stage 6 Swimsafer 2.0 Skills Assessment demonstrate a high level of proficiency in swimming, which is an essential life skill.

Front Crawl, Breaststroke, and Backstroke are the three main strokes tested in the Swimsafer Gold/ Stage 6 Swimsafer 2.0 Skills Assessment. Swimmers must complete 100m of each stroke within a specified time frame, with Front Crawl to be completed in 3 minutes, Breaststroke in 4 minutes, and Backstroke in 3 minutes and 20 seconds. Swimmers are expected to display good technique and endurance while completing each stroke.

Survival Backstroke and Sidestroke are two other strokes tested in the Swimsafer Gold/ Stage 6 Swimsafer 2.0 Skills Assessment. Swimmers must complete 50m of each stroke, which requires them to swim on their back, keeping their face above water while paddling their arms and legs. These strokes assess a swimmer’s ability to float and stay afloat while conserving energy.

The Butterfly is a challenging stroke to master, and the Swimsafer Gold/ Stage 6 Swimsafer 2.0 Skills Assessment requires swimmers to swim 15m of Butterfly. This stroke tests the swimmer’s coordination, strength, and technique. Swimmers who can complete this stroke efficiently and effectively demonstrate excellent proficiency in swimming.

The Gold Sequence is the final component of the Swimsafer Gold/ Stage 6 Swimsafer 2.0 Skills Assessment. This sequence assesses a swimmer’s ability to perform a series of skills that simulate a real-life situation where survival skills are essential. The sequence begins with the swimmer entering the deep water using a compact jump, followed by a head-first surface dive to a depth of 1.8m. Swimmers must swim through hoops on the pool bottom for 5m and resurface.

Swimmers must then swim 45m quickly using front crawl, followed by a slow 50m swim using any preferred survival swim stroke. Swimmers must remove their pants in deep water and make a float with it while treading water for 5m. After that, they must demonstrate the Heat Escape Lessening Posture (H.E.L.P.) technique for 1min with the self-made float using their long pant.

Finally, swimmers must swim 25m with the self-made float and climb out of the water, demonstrating their ability to stay afloat and use their clothing as a flotation device.

In conclusion, Swimsafer Gold/ Stage 6 Swimsafer 2.0 Skills Assessment is an essential test that evaluates a swimmer’s proficiency in various strokes and survival skills. Swimmers who pass this test demonstrate their ability to swim with efficiency, endurance, and excellent technique. Swimmers who can demonstrate survival skills such as floating, treading water, and using clothing as a flotation device show that they are prepared to handle real-life situations that require these skills. Passing the Swimsafer Gold/ Stage 6 Swimsafer 2.0 Skills Assessment is a significant accomplishment and a testament to a swimmer’s dedication and hard work.
