About Swimsafer Certification
Water safety is a crucial life skill that every child should learn to ensure their safety in and around water bodies. In Singapore, one of the key programs that focuses on teaching water safety skills to children is the Swimsafer Test. As we enter the year 2023, the Swimsafer Test has undergone some important updates to further enhance the water safety skills of children.
The Swimsafer Test is a comprehensive swimming program designed by the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) to impart essential swimming and water safety skills to children aged six and above. The program consists of six progressive stages, with each stage building upon the skills learned in the previous one. The aim of the Swimsafer Test is to equip children with the necessary knowledge, skills, and confidence to safely enjoy aquatic activities and prevent drowning incidents.

Swimsafer in 2023
In 2023, the Swimsafer Test has been updated to align with the latest international standards for water safety. The program now includes additional emphasis on water survival skills, such as treading water and floating, which are crucial in emergency situations. Children will also learn basic rescue techniques and how to respond to water-related emergencies, further enhancing their ability to handle unexpected situations in and around water bodies.
In addition, the Swimsafer Test 2023 focuses on enhancing water safety knowledge among children. Children will learn about water currents, weather conditions, and other environmental factors that can impact their safety in the water. They will also be educated on the importance of responsible swimming behavior, such as avoiding swimming alone and always swimming in designated areas with lifeguard supervision.
The Swimsafer Test 2023 continues to emphasize the importance of water confidence and swimming proficiency. Children will be assessed based on their ability to demonstrate various water skills, including swimming strokes, water survival skills, and open water swimming techniques. Upon successful completion of the program, children will receive a Swimsafer Test certificate, recognizing their achievements and their readiness to safely enjoy aquatic activities.
