November/December Holiday SwimSafer Programme at Delta Swimming Complex

November/December Holiday SwimSafer Programme at Delta Swimming Complex

The November and December school holidays are an excellent time for children to strengthen their swimming and water-safety skills. With fewer school commitments and more time to practise, children can focus on improving their techniques, correcting weak components and progressing towards their next SwimSafer stage.

AQZOG’s November/December Holiday SwimSafer Programme at Delta Swimming Complex is designed for children from SwimSafer Stage 1 through Stage 6. Whether your child is a beginner learning basic water confidence or an advanced swimmer preparing for the Silver or Gold award, the programme provides purposeful coaching in a structured and supportive environment.

Best of all, the course fee includes a SwimSafer test worth $80. This gives eligible and prepared participants the opportunity to complete their training and proceed towards formal assessment without paying a separate test fee.

Programme Schedule

To provide suitable instruction for different ability levels, participants will be grouped according to their SwimSafer stage:

Training Dates: Nov 24,26,28, Dec 1, 3, 5 (Every Tue, Thur, Sat)

SwimSafer Stages 3, 4, 5 and 6
Time: 9:00 am to 10:15 am

SwimSafer Stages 1 and 2
Time: 10:30 am to 11:45 am

Each session lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes. The longer lesson duration gives swimmers enough time for skill explanation, focused drills, repeated practice and individual correction. It also allows the coach to work on several SwimSafer components during each session without rushing the child.

What Children Will Learn

For Stage 1 and Stage 2, lessons focus on building a strong foundation. Children will develop water confidence, safe entry and exit habits, breath control, floating, body position, kicking and basic forward movement. They will also be introduced to essential survival skills in a calm and progressive manner.

For Stage 3 and Stage 4, swimmers will work on improving stroke efficiency, coordination, underwater skills and personal survival techniques. Coaches will identify difficult components and use targeted drills to help children understand and perform each skill more confidently.

For Stage 5 and Stage 6, including the Silver and Gold levels, training becomes more demanding. Participants may practise advanced survival sequences, endurance swimming, lifesaving-related skills, clothing swims, underwater movement and more efficient stroke technique. Attention will also be given to timing, control, stamina and the correct sequence of assessment components.

Progress is different for every child. Our goal is not simply to rush swimmers through a stage, but to help them perform each skill safely, correctly and confidently.

Course Fee Includes a SwimSafer Test Worth $80

The included SwimSafer test makes this holiday programme especially valuable for families. Instead of arranging and paying separately for assessment, the course fee already includes a SwimSafer test worth $80 for participants who are ready and eligible.

Training and testing are related, but they are not the same. Enrolment does not mean an automatic pass. A swimmer must demonstrate the required standard for the relevant stage during the assessment. Coaches will monitor each child’s progress and provide guidance on readiness. This protects the integrity of the SwimSafer programme and, more importantly, ensures that water-safety skills are genuinely learned.

Parents are encouraged to provide accurate information about their child’s current stage and previous swimming experience during registration. This helps us place the child in the most appropriate group from the beginning.

A Convenient Central Location

Delta Swimming Complex is a practical holiday-training location for families living in central Singapore and nearby neighbourhoods. Its established location makes it accessible from areas such as Redhill, Tiong Bahru, Bukit Merah, Queenstown, Alexandra, River Valley and the city area.

Families travelling by MRT can use nearby stations and complete the remaining journey by public bus or a short walk, depending on their chosen route. Several bus services also travel through the surrounding main roads, giving parents and children different public-transport options. Those arriving by taxi or private-hire vehicle can enter the destination directly into their navigation app for a straightforward journey.

For parents who drive, the central location can reduce the need to travel across Singapore for a suitable SwimSafer holiday programme. As parking availability and traffic conditions may change, families should check the latest parking information and allow additional travelling time, especially during weekday peak periods.

The morning schedule is another advantage. Older and more advanced swimmers attend from 9:00 am to 10:15 am, while beginners in Stages 1 and 2 attend from 10:30 am to 11:45 am. Children can complete a productive swimming lesson before lunch while still having the rest of the day for family activities, revision, enrichment classes or rest.

Siblings at different stages may also find the consecutive timings useful. Parents can bring them to the same complex, with one group following the other, instead of making separate trips to different venues.

Why Join During the School Holidays?

Regular practice over a shorter period can help children remember corrections and develop better movement patterns. When lessons are too widely spaced, swimmers may spend part of each session relearning previous skills. A focused holiday programme provides continuity, which may support faster and more consistent improvement.

The programme can be particularly helpful for children who:

  • Need to strengthen their foundation before moving to the next stage.
  • Have difficulty with one or more SwimSafer components.
  • Recently did not pass an assessment and need targeted correction.
  • Want to improve confidence before a future test.
  • Have limited time for regular lessons during the school term.
  • Wish to use the holidays for meaningful physical activity.

Swimming also develops coordination, fitness, discipline and confidence. More importantly, SwimSafer teaches practical water-survival knowledge that children can use at swimming pools and in other aquatic environments.

Register Early

Group places should be kept manageable so that coaches can observe swimmers and provide meaningful corrections. Parents are therefore encouraged to register early, especially if their child requires a particular stage group.

When registering, please state the child’s full name, age, current SwimSafer stage, swimming background, medical information relevant to aquatic activity and the parent’s contact details. If the child has a previous SwimSafer result or has difficulty with a specific component, share this information with the coach before the programme begins.

Give your child the opportunity to make the school holidays active, productive and rewarding. Join AQZOG’s November/December Holiday SwimSafer Programme at Delta Swimming Complex and help your child build stronger swimming ability, better survival skills and greater confidence in the water.
