SwimSafer Stage 1 Criteria in Singapore
SwimSafer Stage 1 Criteria in Singapore
Complete Parent Guide by AQZOG Swim School
Conducted at Teck Ghee, Clementi, Bishan & Punggol Swimming Complexes
This comprehensive guide explains the official SwimSafer Stage 1 criteria, how AQZOG conducts lessons, and why these three complexes are ideal venues for your child’s first swimming journey.
What Is SwimSafer Stage 1?
SwimSafer Stage 1 is the entry-level stage of Singapore’s National SwimSafer Programme. It focuses on water confidence, safety awareness, and basic movement skills, rather than speed or stroke perfection.
This stage is suitable for:
- Children with little or no swimming experience
- Young learners who may feel fearful or anxious in water
- First-time learners preparing for long-term SwimSafer progression
At AQZOG, we strongly believe that Stage 1 determines long-term swimming success. Rushing this stage often leads to fear, poor technique, or water panic later on.

Some MOE School allows exemption from the program if your child is already having swimsafer program privately or already have at least Stage 1 certification or stage 3 or 4 certification.
